Directions
1. Cut bread into cubes (you can use dry bread, but not stale). If a plain crouton is desired, place bread cubes on a baking sheet and drizzle with a little olive oil. Place in a medium-high temperature oven. Ever 5-10 min, check the croutons and stir them around. Once well browned, remove and let cool completely before storing.
2. For a more flavorful crouton, after cubing the bread, add olive oil to a large frying pan. Sauté a small amount of the garlic. Toss the bread into the pan and toss until coated. Place the cubes on a baking sheet and sprinkle with mixed herbs. Bake as directed above.
Notes: Use croutons to garnish any soup, or salad. They can also be used to make stuffing, or eaten simply as a snack.
