Directions

1. Press or mince the garlic and add a generous amount of butter.  Cream together.

2. Slice bread 90% of the way through, so that there’s a hinge at the bottom of each slice holding the loaf together.

3. Spread each slice on both sides with the garlic butter mixture.

4. Hold the loaf open with one hand, and sprinkle it lightly with salt.    

5. Wrap the loaf in aluminum foil. 

6. Place in a medium-high temperature oven until garlic butter is well melted and bread is heated through, about 15-20 minutes.

                                      

Notes: Garlic bread makes a fantastic accompaniment to almost any dish. It’s easy to make, and you can reduce the amount of butter for a healthier option.

 

Variations:. This recipe makes a soft garlic bread.  For a crispier garlic bread, open the foil a bit, or don’t wrap the bread at all (you may reduce baking time or the bread will get REALLY dry).  You can also add fresh or dry herbs to your butter and garlic mixture.
