Ingredients

U.S.

Ingredients

European

4 ½ c

Water

1 L

1 ¼ c

Sugar

250 g

1 c

Lemon juice (fresh)

240 ml

Directions

1. In a medium-sized pot, heat the water over a medium flame.  Add the sugar to the water and stir until sugar has dissolved. Stop heating as soon as all visible trace of the sugar is gone.

2. Remove the sugar water from the heat and put it in the refrigerator to chill.

3. Meanwhile, halve several fresh lemons and squeeze the juice and pulp from the lemons.  Set aside until ready to serve.

4. When the water has chilled, add it to the lemon juice and pulp until you like the flavor (you may not need it all if you don’t have a sweet tooth).

Notes: This is a refreshing summer drink. It can be enjoyed in the winter too – hot or cold.

Variations: Add lime juice for a unique kick.

Substitutions: Fresh lemon juice/Bottled lemon juice. Sugar/Honey.
