Directions

1. Preheat oven to medium-high.

2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, sugar and cinnamon.

3. Cut in the butter with a fork or your hands.

4. Add raisins and buttermilk and mix well until a hearty dough is formed.

5. Form the dough into round loaf and place on a greased baking pan.

6. Cut a large X into top of loaf.

7. For the topping, cream the butter and then blend in the sugar and cinnamon.

8. Spread the topping over top of loaf.

9. Bake in oven for 35 to 50 minutes.  Check every 10 to 15 minutes to see if loaf needs to be rotated or covered with foil to keep from burning on top. Reduce heat if necessary.

 

Substitutions: Buttermilk/Lapte bătut, sana or yogurt.
